Charlie Ernst, in his own words. One minute. Three things he says he likes about the job.
What got him in
"I got involved because I could see that there were still a number of things we could achieve at this club to make it a lot simpler to manage, better to play, and more fun for the members." — Charlie Ernst
That's the test he's set for himself.
What he brings
"I chose to become president because I considered I had some good skills in managing people, which is a role I did in my occupation." — Charlie Ernst
His skills came from his job, not from croquet. Clubs often choose their president on playing pedigree. Charlie didn't.
What he gets out of it
"It is always satisfying to see new members come into the club and develop their skills and improve their game — whether it be through interactions with myself or by directing them to other members of the club who can help them improve." — Charlie Ernst
What he gets back isn't recognition. It's watching new members get better at the game.
On the cut
Short clip, short post. Three of Charlie's own answers carry it — why he stood, what he brings, what he gets back. Nothing much else needed.
